How these shoes are selected

These shoes are selected with a deep toe box, soft uppers without seams over the tops of the toes, and fastenings that hold without squeezing. The room matters more than the cushioning here: a raised joint needs space before it needs padding.

Can shoes straighten hammer toes?

No. Footwear gives the toes room and keeps pressure off; changing the toe's position is a clinical question for a podiatrist.

Do toe pads help?

They can cushion a raised joint, as long as they do not themselves create a new pressure point. Check the fit with the pad in place.

How do I know a toe box is deep enough?
